Netflix Renews 'Daredevil' for Second Season

Eleven days after bowing Marvel’s Daredevil, Netflix has renewed the superhero drama for a second season, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Daredevil, starring Boardwalk Empire alum Charlie Cox, was the first of five Marvel series to debut on the streaming service. The series will return in 2016.

The series from showrunner Steven S. DeKnight will lead into forthcoming dramas Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Luke Cage before all four heroes team for miniseries The Defenders in a massive pact with Marvel.
For Netflix, the renewal comes as all of its original scripted dramas and comedies have gone on to secure second seasons.
For Marvel, meanwhile, the news comes as the comic book powerhouse is mapping out its future at ABC with a third season of its first TV foray Agents of SHIELD expected to come in May, while bridge series Agent Carter — its first female-driven entry — is also heating up for a second abbreviated season. On the development side, ABC and Marvel are prepping an Agents of SHIELD spinoff starring Adrianne Palicki and Nick Blood as well as a mystery superhero series from American Crime’s John Ridley.
Netflix’s original drama roster also consists of Bloodline, The Crown, House of Cards, Longmire, Marco Polo, Narcos, Sens8, The Get Down, The OA, Montauk and dramedy Orange Is the New Black, among others.
