Johnny Depp Cribbed His Wicked Pissa 'Black Mass' Accent From Aerosmith

Johnny Depp, who stars as notorious Boston crime boss Whitey Bulger in the upcoming film Black Mass, appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Thursday night and gave the host some insight into how he perfected his wicked good accent for the movie. “Prior to going to Boston, I’d spent a lot of time with one of my all-time guitar heroes, Joe Perry from Aerosmith,” Depp explains. “Joe’s got a pretty thick accent, so I just sponged it.”

When he’s not making movies, Depp likes to rock out with some famous musician friends; his new album “Hollywood Vampires” drops today and features the likes of Alice Cooper, Joe Perry, Joe Walsh, and even Sir Paul McCartney. Even Depp was star-struck by the lineup of legendary rockers he assembled for the project. “It was shocking,” admits the three-time Oscar nominee.

Jimmy Kimmel Live! airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. on ABC.
