Ellen Welcomes Emily Blunt to U.S. Citizenship by Scaring Her

Emily Blunt stopped by Ellen on Monday, where the daytime host congratulated her on her recent U.S. citizenship. Blunt described the process of studying for the citizenship test: “I know more about the Constitution and government than most Americans.” DeGeneres shared: “Portia became a citizen; the questions were like, I don’t even know these questions. Things we don’t have to learn at all. But do you know songs, do you know patriotic songs and things like that?”

Blunt later walked out dressed as the Statue of Liberty and was asked by Ellen to sing “Yankee Doodle Dandy,” but it was all just an elaborate setup for her to be scared midsong by a staff member dressed as Uncle Sam. Blunt confessed after the fright, “I think I just peed myself.”
