'Bob's Burgers' Sneak Peek: Bob and Linda Get the 'Sliding Doors' Treatment
Most animated shows that make it to a sixth season are already shooting their characters into space for a lack of ideas (looking at you, Simpsons). But Bob’s Burgers remains refreshingly grounded, though they are given to flights of fancy, as in this season premiere where they ask the question: What if Bob and Linda had never got together?
The episode is titled “Sliding Bobs.” after the 1998 alternate universe film, Sliding Doors. “It’s one of the kids’ trilogy episodes,” says executive producer Jim Dauterive, referring to the structure used in “The Gayle Tales” and “The Frond Files” where we get a glimpse into each Belcher child’s peculiar world views. In this installment, we learn what might have happened if Bob hadn’t had his mustache during the couple’s fateful first meeting. It’s the Belcher kids telling the stories, so “It doesn’t go well, I’ll tell you that,” says Dauterive with a wry chuckle. And we wouldn’t have it any other way.
The season 6 premiere of Bob’s Burgers airs Sunday, September 27 at 7:30 p.m. on Fox.
