'Saturday Night Live' #TBT: Just One of the 'Girls'

Before Adam Driver turned to the dark side and wielded a lightsaber and — spoiler alert! — killed his own father, Han Solo, in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, he was an up-and-coming actor who broke through to stardom on HBO’s Girls.

The actor, who hosts Saturday Night Live this weekend, played the on-again/off-again boyfriend of Lena Dunham’s Hannah Horvath, which got him noticed by Hollywood’s elite movers and shakers. And he wasn’t the only one; Girls catapulted all of its young stars into Hollywood’s spotlight.

Girls, which premieres its fifth season next month, has been a pop cultural force to be reckoned with — instantly meme-ified, tweeted about, and of course, mocked. SNL produced a laugh-out-loud parody in 2013, featuring host Tina Fey as Blerta, a new addition to the crew straight from Albania.

Like Hannah, she’s got OCD — except in her case, it’s “old cow disease.” The outfit deemed “chic” by Jessa came from a fire. Her ex-boyfriend is in a shallow grave. And when Hannah complains about deserving better than Adam, Blerta scoffs, “He is strong like ox. You are weak and soft and dressed like baby.”

Truth, Blerta, #truth.
