From the stage, to the big screen, and now as a live TV musical set to ease on down the road this December, The Wiz has been flying in and out of our lives for more than four decades. The modern day Wizard of Oz-inspired musical earned seven Tony Awards for its Broadway run in the mid 1970s, and the 1978 movie was nominated for four Academy Awards and spawned a hit soundtrack album. Next up: NBC’s small-screen version of the tale, The Wiz Live!
