Americans are more pleased with airports now than they were five years ago. The new J.D. Power and Associates airport rankings are out, and they have found that positive sentiment rose to an average 725 points on a 1,000-point scale, up from 690 in a survey five years ago.

Portland International Airport in Oregon came out on top with a score of 791, followed closely by Tampa International Airport and Vegas’s McCarran International Airport.

J.D. Power ranked the airports based on six criteria — terminal facilities, accessibility, security check, baggage claim, check-in, and shopping.

The survey was based on more than 18,800 evaluations from flyers.

“Most airports have really made a tremendous shift over the past six years and are now focused on managing the end-to-end experience for their travelers,” said Rick Garlick, global travel and hospitality practice lead at J.D. Power. “It’s no longer just about getting travelers from point A to point B as efficiently as possible; it’s about making the airport experience enjoyable.”
