Frightening Fog Tsunami Terrifies Jersey Shore

Visitors to the beach town of Sea Girt, New Jersey got quite the scare on Monday when a bank of fog rolled in over the ocean positioned in such a way that it looked more like a menacing tsunami.

The National Weather Service wanted to make sure that everyone knew it was a fog bank and not a deadly tsunami, before all panic broke out along the Eastern seaboard. They quickly released an explanation of the weather phenomenon on their own social media accounts.

The fog bank was caused by warm air condensing over the cold ocean water. (Photo: Twitter)

The good news is that a fog bank is both harmless and pretty and looks nice on Instagram.
