GoPro Captures Daredevil’s Crazy Climb Up the Eiffel Tower

One extreme climber has major bragging rights after scaling to the top of the Eiffel Tower.

James Kingston was eventually arrested after he was spotted by security, but before they nabbed him, the British daredevil captured some pretty impressive footage via a GoPro mounted to his head.

According to Kingston’s Youtube post published on Nov.8, climbing the Eiffel Tower had been a longtime goal of his. He and a few friends originally planned to buy tickets to the second platform and climb from there, but there were way too many tourists around. So, Kingston and his crew decided to go with plan B.

In the words of Drake, Kingston “started from the bottom” and climbed all the way to the top of the tower. The adventure began at 1 a.m., and after dodging security, Kingston was able to navigate his way through the framework of the tower under the cover of night.

Then the daredevil got cocky.

“My curiosity got the better of me, “Kingston wrote. “I unlocked the door, slowly crept in and was immediately hit with the sound of a walkie talkie going absolutely mental in French.”

An intense search began for Kingston and his friends, but the sneaky crew were able to hide out in the tower. After a few hours, the searched stopped.

This gave Kingston a few more hours to play on the tower and capture footage before he was spotted again at 9 a.m. This time he climbed down the tower and met security, where he was handcuffed and taken to the police station.

After being questioned for about six hours, Kingston was released without charges.

“I also had to promise them I wouldn’t climb it again for 3 years,” he wrote. “I can now officially tick the Eiffel Tower off my list.”
