Paging Starman — British Airline Honors David Bowie on Flights

Thanks to one airline, you can now rediscover the music of David Bowie at 35,000 feet.

As a way to honor the rock star’s influence, British Airways announced that passengers will soon be able to enjoy Bowie-inspired entertainment for free on flights.

Starting next week, fliers can watch the documentary, David Bowie — Five Years In The Making of an Icon, which originally aired on BBC Two. In addition to showing previously unseen footage, the program details the five key years in Bowie’s career.

“In recognition of the huge impact Bowie had on popular British culture, and to people around the world, we felt that it was a fitting tribute to the man and his music,” Richard D’Cruze, British Airways’ in-flight entertainment manager, said in a statement.

As it turns out, next week’s documentary is just the beginning of Bowie in-flight entertainment.

On April 1, passengers will have the option of listening to four different audio programs on selected flights. This includes The Best of Bowie documentary from 1997, and two hourlong concerts recorded in 1996.

And May 1, customers can listen to Profiles: David Bowie and The David Bowie Story — two programs that feature the rock star talking about his life.
