Airline Employees Caught Playing 'Bag Toss' Game With Luggage

If you’ve ever wondered what happens to your luggage after you check it, the answer might shock you.

Alaska Airlines is apologizing after video surfaced of several employees throwing luggage around at Mineta San Jose International airport in California.

On Nov. 24, passenger Chase Platon filmed baggage handlers throwing a black suitcase. The small group took turns to see who could toss the luggage the farthest.

Planton originally thought they were Southwest Airlines employees, and after 30 minutes of watching the antics, he reported them to a Southwest gate agent.

But as it turns out, the employees were actually from Alaska Airlines.

According to a spokesperson from Alaska, the bag they were tossing was filled with magazines and did not belong to a passenger. Nevertheless, they apologized for the behavior of their employees.

“Regrettably, our employees were tossing a company rollaboard bag that was filled with magazines as part of an employee game,“ Alaska Airlines told NBC Bay Area. "No passenger bag was used for this activity. This game should not have been played at the airport. The optics of this video are unfortunate and we apologize for any confusion this has caused San Jose travelers or Southwest Airlines.”

Planton’s video has been viewed 30,000 time since it was originally posted.

For the rest of us, even though the airline says it wasn’t a passenger’s bag, you might want to think twice the next time you pack something fragile in your suitcase.
