Extra Storage for Your iPhone

You don’t have to spend a fortune to buy nice tech gifts. There are joy and glad tidings to be had in reasonably priced gadgets, too. Leave it to David Pogue to sniff out 12 delightful and useful ones.

The Eleventh Day of Techness

Good heavens. The iPhone is 7 years old, and this is the first time anyone’s thought of making a flash drive for it?

The SanDisk iXpand is a two-headed flash drive. One end goes into the USB jack on your Mac or PC as usual, so that you can copy photos and videos to or from the iXpand. The other is a Lightning connector that you can plug into an iPhone or iPad. Presto: All those files are now available to your phone. The iXpand seems unnecessarily chunky, but that’s because it has its own battery, so it doesn’t drain your phone’s.

It’s available in 16-, 32-, and 64-gigabyte sizes. That should free up a lot of space on your iPhone or iPad.

For Android, SanDisk offers the smaller, more cleanly designed Ultra Dual USB Drive, which is otherwise the same idea.
