Sea of Thieves is currently the most pre-ordered game on the PlayStation Store, indicating high interest in the former Xbox exclusive. The game will be the last of Xbox exclusives to hit PlayStation consoles and, as indicated by previous games, will utilize all of PS5’s exclusive features.

Developer Rare has released a new trailer showing how and what PS5 features the port will use. Surprise - expect full DualSense controller support, multiple performance modes, and PlayStation-exclusive servers. The extra features make it look better than the existing Xbox version, although it features performance parity across all ports (except PC, which can achieve higher frame rates and resolutions).

Here are the features present in Sea of Thieves’ PS5 port:

  • Graphics Mode - 4K 60fps

  • Performance Mode - 1080p 120fps

  • Tempest 3D Audio

  • DualSense - Haptic Feedback

  • DualSense - Adaptive Triggers

  • DualSense - Microphone and Speaker utilization for in-game chat

  • 250 Trophies - Xbox achievements will convert to trophies with cross-progression

  • Full Cross-Play Support

  • Cross-Progression - Microsoft account mandatory

  • New PSN Platinum Trophy - Pirate Perfectionist

Given that it is a multiplayer game, a PS Plus subscription is required to play online. However, you can still play it without an online subscription in the Safer Seas mode. The Safer Seas mode gives players access to most of the story content, including Tall Tales. Here’s an explanation of what is accessible in that mode:
