The 11 Best ‘Star Wars’ Lego SetsAmazon

When it comes to Lego builds, there isn’t a single licensed property more popular than Star Wars. (Well, maybe Marvel.) And despite the first movie debuting in 1977, the franchise only keeps getting bigger, with films, TV shows, video games, books, and a ton of merch. There’s even an entire day, May the Fourth, dedicated to celebrating all things Star Wars.

Whether you’re overwhelmed with many options for showing off your love of the fandom or are just someone who can’t get enough, there’s one thing any Star Wars fan can appreciate: Lego sets. The brick-building models based on the franchise have covered almost every corner of the galaxy far, far, away over the past 25 years. (PSA: If you want to see all the Lego sets of the past, along with sketches and designs, there’s a new book that chronicles the past two-and-a-half decades.)

Below, we’ve rounded up the best Star Wars Lego sets the galaxy has to offer, with an eye for all budgets, ages, and skill levels.

The Best Star Wars Lego Sets

What to Consider

The builder’s skill level and age are the most important things to consider when buying Lego sets. If you’re looking for a set for an adult, look for a model with a recommended age of 18 and up, which typically has a high difficulty level and uses smaller, more detailed pieces. If you’re purchasing for a child, look for smaller sets that won’t take them as long to build.

Another factor to consider is space. Once these sets are built, consider whether you’d like them to be on display or broken apart and stored away. The sets for ages 18 and up are meant to take up a space of pride on shelves, but some are big—huge, even. Check the completed measurements before you buy to ensure you have somewhere to display them.

How We Evaluated

As much as we still dream about the Lego Death Star and kick ourselves for not buying the fan-favorite set featured in Spider-man: Homecoming, we (mostly) left retired sets off this list, as they usually sell for ridiculous prices on the resale market. But don’t be dismayed, as we scoured hundreds of Lego models currently available and researched the most popular and best-reviewed sets at retailers like Amazon, Lego’s official store, and more. We also included sets that we’ve personally had hands-on experience building. Each is recommended based on several factors, including price, age, difficulty, and impressiveness.

Darth Vader Helmet

You can get Lego helmets of a bunch of characters, like The Mandalorian or Boba Fett, but if you’re just starting your collection, there’s no better way than building your own Darth Vader. Once built, it stands 8 inches high, can be placed on a stand, and will look really cool on a bookcase or desk, if you want to show your love for the Dark Side.

While rated for adults, this could also impress a teen, and the 834 pieces make it a doable build even if you haven’t done a Lego set in years. As you put this together, you’ll see that under the helmet, there’s the intricate life support system, which makes it even more interesting for fans. Pro tip: This would be a great Father’s Day gift for your Star Wars-loving dad.

The Child

Technically, this one was retired in December of 2023, but we’re making an exception in including him because he’s still readily available on Amazon. Plus, it’s Grogu (AKA Baby Yoda or the Child, for non-Mandalorian fans). The scene-stealing star of the Disney+ series is featured here in all his adorable glory.

He stands just over 7 inches tall and even comes with his beloved gearshift knob toy. Suitable for ages 10 and up, you’ll also get a plaque and the cutest minifig of Grogu. Once assembled, you’ll be able to move those famous oversized ears, as well as twist his head and mouth.

Luke Skywalker’s X-Wing Fighter

Luke Skywalker’s X-Wing Fighter is a solid build with plenty of extras, making it an excellent value for its size. For one, this set’s mini figures include a pilot Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, and General Dodonna, along with a small R2-D2 that can attach to a small cockpit on top of the ship, just like in the movies. Once built, the X-Wing’s attack position can be triggered with the touch of a button. It also has retractable landing gear and two spring-loaded shooters to blast lasers.

This iconic Lego set is a fan favorite for its posable wings, durability once built, and details, with many saying it looks great while displayed on a flat surface.

Brickheadz Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader

This two-piece set is part of the Lego BrickHeadz series, which shows cutesy, bigheaded renditions of famous characters. A small build of just under 300 pieces, this package comes with miniature versions of Darth Vader and Obi-Wan Kenobi from the original trilogy.

The set also comes with two lightsabers so you can make a dynamic display of the duo battling. The actual build won’t take too long to finish and makes for great décor in small spaces, like an office desk or dorm countertop.

Mos Eisley Cantina

If you’ve conquered most Star Wars Lego sets with ease and have the money to spend, this set is the splurge for you. The Mos Eisley Cantina contains more than 3,000 pieces and includes a massive amount of detail that master builders will appreciate.

This large building kit aims to bring Mos Eisley to life with a highly detailed scene. A diorama once finished, you can display scenes with its variety of 21 mini figures—and it has a removable roof to easily access and show off different booths inside of the cantina. The set also has two attachable buildings, two Landspeeders, and a large Dewback figure that a mini figure can mount. This one is also on the list of sets to be retired at the end of the year, so if you want it, grab it soon for you or a loved one.

R2-D2

This Lego build of the lovable R2-D2 droid is an intricate one that’s classy enough to display in any home. At more than 2,000 pieces and just over a foot tall, this R2-D2 is a fine build for adults looking for display pieces that look sophisticated, yet playful.

This model is packed with incredible details once built, like retractable mid-leg drops that allow it to be wheeled around, a rotating pop-up periscope, an extendable front hatch, and even a secret compartment that holds Luke Skywalker’s lightsaber. Alongside this build is a commemorative plaque with specs and info on R2-D2, plus a mini figure and unique Lucasfilm 50th anniversary Lego brick.

There’s also a smaller $100 R2-D2 made for the 25th anniversary of Lego Star Wars, if you’re looking for a more budget-friendly option.

Ultimate Millennium Falcon

If you’re a true diehard Star Wars Lego fan, this massive set is an investment in showing off your fandom. With over 7,500 pieces (yes, really) this will take you a while to assemble, but the level of detail is befitting of the legendary ship that made the Kessel run in less than 12 parsecs.

This is for ages 16 and up, and we’d only advise this if you’ve got some serious Lego-building hours under your belt. At almost 3 feet long but almost 2 feet wide, this one is seriously large and will be the envy of your fellow Star Wars fans.

But what makes this one impressive isn’t just the size—it’s the details, from removable hull panels to upper and lower laser cannons, and two different crews of minifigs from the classic and newer films.

The step-by-step instruction books are sufficient for most frequent builders, but for this one, you may want to download the Lego Builder app, which will show you 3D images of the pieces you need and how they click together. If you aren’t quite ready for this challenge, there’s a new Millennium Falcon set under $100 that will still look cool on your shelves.

Chewbacca

This 2,319-piece set is geared toward adults, but it would also be great for a teen who likes to assemble their builds and display. This one in particular has a lot of small pieces, as it uniquely attempts to mimic the fur of a Wookie with the plastic texture of Lego bricks.

Of course, you’ll also assemble a bandolier and bowcaster, since without his signature accessories, Chewie would just look like any other Wookie. The build stands over 18 inches tall once done and comes with a plaque and minifig.

Tenoo Jedi Temple

At only 124 pieces, this is a great entry point into the world of Star Wars Legos. Kids as young as four can assemble this set, even if they haven’t mastered reading yet. The clear instructions are done in a pictorial form so they can match the blocks with the instructions and build.

This Jedi temple features three minifigs, a hinged piece for Jedi minifigs to practice their balance skills, and a cool “levitating” clear brick to make the rock look like its hovering with the force.

Boarding The Tantive IV

If you prefer your Lego sets to look just like a scene from the movie, they’ve recently started this diorama series. These easy-to-assemble kits are fast to put together and made for play. Plus, they’re loaded with minifigs.

This is the iconic scene from Star Wars: A New Hope where Darth Vader and his stormtroopers battled the Rebels. And while there are only 500 pieces to put together, it does have a flickable switch, so you can open the doors for Vader to make his grand entrance.

This set can also be combined with connectors (sold separately) to other sets, like this brand-new Mos Espa podrace, or additional pieces to extend the action.

Luke Skywalker’s Landspeeder

This one is in limited supply, but if you’re a fan of building replicas of vehicles, this is the one to snag. The Landspeeder is rendered in full detail and placed on a stand so it looks like its hovering (no Tatooine desert sand included).

While this collector piece is aimed at builders 18 and up, it’s a moderately sized set with under 2,000 pieces—so if you’ve got any Lego experience, you could manage building this in one afternoon.

It comes with a Luke Skywalker and C-3P0 minifigs that can fit in the cockpit or pose next to the plaque. The droid even has his mismatched silver leg, and the turbine engine of the ship is missing its cover—we love that attention to detail.
