Hyundai holding free event to update anti-theft software in Denver

DENVER (KDVR) — Hyundai Motor America will hold an event in Denver over the weekend to install anti-theft software for its vehicles free of charge.

The event will be held at Parking Lot E of Empower Field at Mile High.

Report: Colorado auto thefts decreased by 21% in 2023

Mobile service technicians will be on-site to install the software upgrade, which should take less than 30 minutes.

The event is being held on the following days:

  • Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

  • Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

  • Sunday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The software upgrade was created in response to a wave of thefts targeting certain Hyundai and Kia vehicles.

The Hyundai Elantra was the most stolen vehicle model in Colorado in 2023. Two other Hyundai models, the Sonata and the Tucson, also made the top 10 list.

Hyundai and Kia vehicles also accounted for 23% of all reported stolen vehicles in the state in 2023.
