Don’t Waste Your Money: Choosing streaming services

(WHTM)– Remember when you could choose just one or two streaming services and watch almost any show you wanted? Not anymore, as streamers cut back on many of the series they had been offering.

Hoping to watch Friends or The Office? How about Star Wars? You’re not going to find them in one place these days and its getting more frustrating to find them by the month.

A new report by CNBC says “streamers are shrinking their content libraries” to cut costs and showing more and more programs that they own.

Result: Disney Plus now specializes in family content, especially Disney branded shows. Amazon Prime features action-packed series like Jack Ryan. Peacock focuses on crime dramas. Paramount: Yellowstone and similar long-form series. Max, prestige shows like Game Of Thrones. And Netflix is filled with its own top-rated content, like The Crown and Stranger Things.

But from the “doesn’t that stink” file is how you can’t assume a network’s streaming service has that network’s shows. Peacock, part of NBC Universal, does not offer NBC’s friends. Paramount, tied in with CBS, does not have Big Bang Theory.

So you need to check before you switch.

So you really need to decide what kind of programming you like and choose the service that best meets your needs, so don’t waste your money.
