Bandai Namco — makers of Gundam, Pac-Man, Naruto — opening store at American Dream mall

The company behind the well-known brands Gundam, Dark Souls, Pac-Man and Naruto is opening its first store in the Western Hemisphere — at the American Dream mall in East Rutherford.

Bandai Namco Toys & Collectibles America will officially open on May 31, a press release said.

It will feature toys and collectibles from such brands as Tamashii Nations and Tamagotchi, and products from popular anime shows such as “Gundam,” “Dragon Ball,” “One Piece,” “Naruto” and “Demon Slayer.”

Fans will also be able to pose with full-size statues at the front of the store.

Collectible brands

Bandai is not the first store to offer collectible brands to buy or experience at the 3 million-square-foot retail and entertainment complex in the Meadowlands.

Earlier this month, the Chinese-based retailer Miniso opened its store at the mall. Miniso is a Sanrio-inspired store from the company known for such brands as Hello Kitty, Kuromi, Pompompurin, My Melody and Keroppi.

It sells household goods, food, toys, and health and beauty supplies, and the brand collaborates with such brands as Marvel, Disney, DC Comics and Minions.

In June, the company behind brands Dungeons & Dragons, G.I. Joe, Transformers, My Little Pony and Nerf is opening its first ever gaming center — the 41,500-square-foot Gameroom by Hasbro — at American Dream.

The attractions range from a Candy Land milkshake bar to G.I. Joe laser tag and a full-service restaurant featuring appetizers, entrees, cocktails and desserts from well-known games.
