Apple’s Rumored iPhone 6S Event Will Be Sept. 9

Is it fall already?

On Thursday morning Apple sent out invitations to its annual fall event, which will be held at 10 a.m. PT on Sept. 9 at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, in San Francisco.

The company is rumored to reveal a new iteration of the iPhone, a long-awaited updated to Apple TV, and a slew of other software updates for the Apple Watch and iOS.

The invite reads “Hey Siri, give us a hint” and depicts the classic outline of Apple’s logo, framed by what appears to be wiggly reverberating lines. So, our reading of the tea leaves is that Siri will play an important role in whatever they’re announcing. Ask your phone the same thing, and the she-bot will reply with “Well, I hear there’s something big happening on September 9.” Well played, Apple. Well played.

According to the usually reliable Apple blog MacRumors, this year’s event will likely debut the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus models, which are reported to be made from a special kind of aluminum and include Force Touch technology, which responds differently depending on the amount of pressure you apply with your digits. As per usual, this version will also have better guts and an improved camera.

We may also see a new iteration of Apple TV, the unloved sibling of the company’s frequently updated product family. The set-top box will likely include an A8 processor, a touch-based remote, and a software system that is said to support the App Store and — you guessed it — Siri!

We can also expect an overhaul of the new mobile operating system, iOS 9, and the Apple Watch’s first operating system update, named watchOS 2.

Yahoo Tech will be there, as always, liveblogging our little hearts out. Stay tuned for details, and get excited!
