2025 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Vans: More Tech and More eSprinter Configurations
Mercedes-Benz is upgrading the tech on its Sprinter vans for 2025 with more features that should make driving the big vans easier. They should be especially helpful if you’ve converted your van for a high-adventure and outdoors lifestyle.
The electric eSprinter is also now available with more body configurations, and while that might sound van-life-ready, it’s only with a new smaller battery pack.
Latest-Generation Benz Smart Car Software
The current-generation Mercedes-Benz Sprinter was one of the first models to get the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) system that boasted natural speech voice control and big high-resolution screens. But that was almost 6 years ago, and so for 2025 the vans get an update.
Mercedes says the new system is “a new level of in-car experience” thanks to a new operating system. It has even better voice control and lets you manage even more features like seat heating through the “Hey, Mercedes” voice prompt.
It runs on a 10.25-inch screen, and this year adds wireless versions of Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
2025 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Driver Assists
More important than voice control, it lets Mercedes add new tech like the Moving Off Information System. This system uses the existing high-resolution cameras on all four sides of the Sprinter to show a 360-degree view around the van.
Watching the viewscreens makes maneuvering the van easier, especially in a tight campsite or down a trail. It might even stop you from driving away while you’re still connected to shore power.
But what’s new is that even if you’re not looking at the surround-view cameras on the main screen, the system is. It monitors directly in front of the van, and the low-speed system will alert you if there’s a pedestrian or cyclist hidden in front of you that you didn’t see.
The blind spot warning system has also been expanded. The system uses new radar sensors in the rear bumper to see beside and behind the van. Rear cross-traffic alerts will warn you, and new for 2025, it will automatically brake if you don’t react to something crossing behind you while you’re backing up.
A new front camera makes the Active Lane Keeping Assist more useful. It can now turn the wheel to help steer you back into your lane, handy if you’ve had a moment of inattention.
Many of those features are optional, but Benz has added some new standard equipment across the line. Tire pressure sensors are now included on dual rear-wheel models. The wipers have a rain sensor, and crew and passenger models get passive child detection.
New Electric eSprinter Models
Electric eSprinter vans get a new 81kWh battery pack. It’s about one-third smaller than the electric van already offers, but Benz will offer it with 144-inch wheelbase and standard roof configurations — both not currently available with the eSprinter. The larger battery pack (113 kWh) is only available in the 170-inch and high roof configuration.
Payloads for the smaller and lighter electric pack climb as much as 500 pounds, to 3,120. That means you could bring more gear along for the adventure, but there is a big drawback.
That adventure will have to be much shorter between charges. You’re likely only to get about 140 miles of range on the new smaller pack, while the larger pack offers around 230 miles of range.
Best 2025 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Features Stay the Same
The van’s main features remain unchanged. The Sprinter still offers two four-cylinder diesel engines with up to 332 pound-feet of torque and a nine-speed automatic. All-wheel drive is still an option. The vans can tow up to 7,500 pounds, haul up to 6,812, and hold up to 533 cubic feet of cargo.
Pricing for the 2025 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter starts from $50,900 for the cargo model. That’s up $1,000 over 2024, but a smaller battery and smaller van mean the $61,250 starting price of the eSprinter is around $10,000 cheaper than in 2024.
Expect the new vans at dealers in the second half of this year.
