The Tailormade Pillow Gold Edition didn't become "the world's most exclusive and expensive pillow" by accident. The custom-made "experience" surpasses the likes of $400 juicers and Dolce & Gabbana appliances by settling on a whopping five-figure price tag - for a pillow.
Deep-pocketed customers can rest their heads on the custom memory-foam blocks covered with 24-karat gold fabric, of course. The zipper alone features a 22.5-karat sapphire and four diamonds.
Developed by Dutch physical therapist Thijs van der Hilst, the extravagant poof first requires a three-dimensional scan of the client's head. Robots then use the "patented algorithm" to mill the appropriate shape, carving out a form based on his/her size and sleep patterns.
"Combining high-tech solutions and old-fashioned craftsmanship, Tailormade Pillow is the most innovative and above all personalized pillow ever made," the website states. "With over 15 years of research and development together with sleep specialists, medical doctors and high-tech engineers, it complements a range of innovating and revolutionary pillows."
How much for a gem-encrusted, gold-woven pillow of your own? A cool $56,995 should do the trick, although the standard edition retails for a mere $4,995, because that's way more reasonable.
