Ariana Grande is using Twitter to voice her outrage about the objectification of women after a recent incident with a fan. Her empowering takeaway from the whole thing? " are not objects or prizes. We are QUEENS."

The star took to the social media platform on Tuesday to speak out after an encounter with a male fan left her feeling "really quiet and hurt"--an all-too-common occurrence that she believes are the "kinds of moments that contribute to women's sense of fear and inadequacy."

The "Side to Side" hitmaker explained that she was out with her boyfriend, Mac Miller, when "a young boy" approached the couple to share that he's a fan of the rapper.

"He was loud and excited and by the time M was seated in the driver's seat, he was literally almost in the car with us. I thought all of this was cute and exciting until he said 'Ariana is sexy as hell man. I see you, I see you hitting that!!'" she wrote.

The 23-year-old explained, "This may not seem like a big deal to some of you but I felt sick and objectified. I was also sitting right there when he said it."

"I am not a piece of meat that a man gets to utilize for his pleasure," Grande continued. "I'm an adult human being in a relationship with a man who treats me with love and respect."

She explained that she was writing about the incident in hopes of bringing more awareness to the issue. "We need to talk about these moments openly because they are harmful and they live on inside of us as shame," the pop star concluded. "We need to share and be vocal when something makes up feel uncomfortable because if we don't, it will just continue. We are not objects or prizes. We are QUEENS."
