Watch People Pick The Best Fast-Food Nachos
Not all nachos are the same — especially those served up by fast-food chains. But what makes one basket of cheese covered chips better than another?
BuzzFeed gathered up taste testers to compare nachos from Baja Fresh, Taco Bell, 7-Eleven, Del Taco and Chipotle to see which one offered the tastiest cheese and chip combo. Chips were evaluated for their color, crunch, and taste, while cheese flavor and texture were also considered. The closer to equal ratio of cheese to chips, the better.
Chipotle doesn’t offer nachos on the menu, but can be ordered as an off-menu hack. The burrito chain served up crisp chips and flavorful cheese, but the amount of cheese was insufficient for one snacker. “A lot of these chips are sparse in the cheese department,” she said.
Baja Fresh got high marks for its chips and cheese. “It makes me want to drink beer,” said one. Which we assume is a good thing.
7-11’s cheese was surprisingly spicy, and several appreciated Taco Bell’s processed liquid cheese topping. “if you like the fake liquid cheese, you would probably like these,” said one.
But only Del Taco could call itself the nacho king, with its crunchy chips and perfect cheese to chip ratio. As one nacho eater described when pulling on a cheese coated Del Taco chip: “gorgeous!”
