This Princess Diana "Memorial" Is the Stuff of Nightmares

Every once in a while, there comes a well-meaning attempt at art that goes so horribly wrong, it becomes a genius masterpiece that must be immediately preserved via meme for posterity. The Room is one such example. Ecce Homo, aka Potato Jesus, the 2012 restoration of a fresco of Jesus Christ botched (or perfected???) by an elderly amateur artist in Spain is another. And now, there's...this...thing.

To prepare you for what you're about to scroll upon, this monstrosity/tour de force is apparently supposed to be a memorial to Princess Diana made from flowers to commemorate the 20th anniversary of her death.

New reaction: 😱😱😱

I think it goes without saying that we have questions. A lot of questions, including but not limited to: Did they forget what Princess Diana looks like? Did they forget what any human looks like? the Internet hero who brought us so much joy with Potato Jesus blessing us with her artistry once again? Where did they find flowers in that hyper realistic — yet historically inaccurate — shade of tan? Inquiring minds need to know; as journalists, it's our responsibility to find the answer.

The inevitable pop culture comparisons are already rolling in from the art fans on Twitter and the resemblances are uncanny. Like, seriously uncanny.

Or this tribute to another iconic British royal:

And of course, our dear, dear friend:

Also, apparently hilariously unflattering tributes to Princess Diana is a thing, because of course it is.

SHUDDER. Terrifying, yet somehow mesmerizing. Overly ambitious amateur artists of the world, please never stop doing you.
