Trend alert: Dark lips were all the rage at the 2016 CMA Awards and are perfect for Fall

The 2016 Country Music Association Awards honored the best that country music has to offer, but we were focused on the beauty looks that the attendees rocked on the red carpet. What we learned is that dark lips were all the rage at this year’s CMA Awards and they are perfect for the end of fall.

Sure, there were a lot of amazing gowns at the award show, and Carrie Underwood slayed in all her glitzy dresses as one of the hosts, but it was the bold, dark and edgy lipstick shades that the country ladies donned as they enjoyed the night that have stuck with us.

All these looks are perfect inspiration for the end of fall and would help you to steal the show at your Thanksgiving dinner this year, so take notes!

Kelsea Ballerini showed off her playful side with a deep red matte look that is the perfect match for her different shades of red gown. We’d totally rock this color for a night out on the town with the girls filled with lots of wine!

Try Urban Decay’s Vice lipstick in the deep red wine shade to achieve this look.

OMG, Kacey Musgraves looked like a gothic goddess with this dark navy-black pout.

The 28-year-old singer opted for Kat Von D’s Studded Kiss Lipstick in Poe, so you can easily recreate her dark dreamy look all fall long.

The Goldbergs’ Hayley Orrantia had more of a burnt red lip shade — like spiced apple cider — as she attended the award show, and presented an award alongside her TV mom Wendy McLendon-Covey.

Bobby Brown’s burnt red lipstick will help you get this ombre hue with ease.

The adorable Nashville star, Lennon Stella donned a mauve or deep taupe hue that we are obsessed with. It is subtle, yet dark enough to make a mark.

We’d recommend trying MAC’s Deep Rooted lipstick in matte.

Slay, Maddie & Tae, slay! Both Maddie Marlow and Taylor Dye of the country duo looked fierce with their deep shades at the Nashville event.

Marlow complimented her deep green gown with a pop of berry lip shade, while Dye let out her dark side with a dark, black cheery pout. For Marlow’s berry lip look try NYX Cosmetics’ matte lipstick in siren, and for Dye’s black hue use Too Faced’s Melted Matte in deep black cherry.

Which dark lip shade are you going to try to complete your perfect fall look, which obviously consists of oversized sweaters, leggings and knee-high boots?
