The trailer for “Scandal” season 6 is here and it looks dramatic AF.
Guys…things are about to get super dramatic, exciting, and there’s going to be A LOT of red wine drunk, as the trailer for Scandal season 6 is here.
Given that Kerry Washington only gave birth to her beautiful baby son, her second child with husband Nnamdi Asomugha, it was completely understandable that Scandal‘s sixth season wouldn’t return to ABC this fall to complete the network’s Shonda Rhimes TGIT night. Instead, the network and Rhimes decided to create a shorter season of Scandal to run next year as a mid-season replacement for new show Notorious.
Well, the waiting is nearly over as the trailer for Scandal is here and it looks just as dramatic as ever!
As you might remember, the last season of Scandal saw Olivia Pope going against Cyrus Beene as Mellie and Frankie Vargas battle for the Oval Office. Of course, this is an over simplification, but Scandal is so darn complicated that it’s hard to explain everything without rambling about murder, corruption, conspiracy theories, and adultery.
Anyways, the trailer for Season 6 is here and it looks like things haven’t changed for Olivia & co.

As the trailer teases, within the first 10 minutes of the episode things are going to already become action packed. Likewise, it seems that Mellie is getting fed up with being used in whatever game Olivia and Eli are playing against Cyrus.
Oh, and there’s the small matter of THAT GIANT EXPLOSION!
These tidbits aren’t the only details the trailer revealed.
Right at the beginning of the clip we learn that Scandal is returning on January 19th!! That means that come the new year, TGIT will be back, as that’s also the day that fellow Shondaland shows Grey’s Anatomy and How to Get Away With Murder return from their mid-season hiatus. Thursday nights are about to become the most dramatic again and we actually can’t wait!

So, it’s time to dust off your white hat, head down to Prada to pick up all those Olivia Pope inspired garments (okay, we can’t afford Prada), and crack open a bottle of red wine as SCANDAL IS BACK!
