Tina Fey Blasts White Women Who Voted For Trump: "You Can't Look Away"

If you're a white woman who voted for Donald Trump, Tina Fey—actress, producer, screenwriter—has a few choice words for you.
"A lot of this election was turned by white, college-educated women who now would maybe like to forget about this election and go back to watching HGTV,” Fey said late last week during an ACLU event. Talking to the organization's executive director Donna Lieberman and deputy legal director Louise Melling, the comedian and actress added: “I would want to urge them to like, ‘You can’t look away’ because it doesn’t affect you this minute, but it’s going to affect you eventually.”
"Again, open two windows. Do watch HGTV,” she said. “[Don’t] turn attention away from what is happening.”
Following the election, exit polls suggested Clinton won women overall, but 53 percent of white women voted for Trump, versus the 43 percent who voted for Hillary Clinton.
After discussing the issue of reproductive freedom, Fey made her own plea not to ignore those most at risk by Trump's administration. "I personally will make my own pledge as a college-educated white woman to not look away, to not pretend that things that are happening now won't eventually affect me if we don't put a stop to it," Fey said.
The former "30 Rock" star, 46, also blasted Vice President Pence for his stance on reproductive rights. "Gains that we've made over the past 100 years are under attack. Luckily Mike Pence isn't allowed to go down and shut up Planned Parenthood unless his wife goes with him. So you know, if we can just keep Karen busy scrapbooking – we can all still get pap smears," she said.
