All the women closest to the Trump administration wore big-name designers to Friday’s inauguration ceremony: Melania wore Ralph Lauren; Ivanka wore Oscar de la Renta; KellyAnne Conway wore Gucci; and Tiffany wore … Taoray Wang?

OK, so Taoray Wang isn’t a household name in the United States, but it is the name of the Chinese woman whose designs Tiffany Trump has worn twice now to major political events supporting her father’s ascent to the White House. The first time Tiffany wore Wang to a political event was during the first presidential debate in September.

Wang is referred to as “Queen of the Suit” in China.

Tiffany’s sartorial choice serves as a foil to her father’s tough stance on China. President Trump has threatened severe trade tariffs on China and provoked its government by breaking with long-standing diplomatic precedent in speaking to the Taiwanese president on the phone.

Tiffany hasn’t let her father’s “America First” slogan stop her from wearing international designers or American designers. The young Trump has her pick of whatever brand she wants, says New York designer Anne Bowen.

We’ll wait to see where in the world Tiffany chooses to shop next.
