This Burkini Bikini Is Hilarious

The controversy surrounding the burkini ban has been causing quite a stir on social media ever since France (as well as a few other countries) decided to put the bizarre rule into action.

Some felt that displaying religious affiliation on a beach could cause public conflict, while others see the ban as discrimination against Muslims and modesty — not to mention those who want to cover up to protect their skin from harmful UV rays. Nevertheless, the burkini has been branded as contentious, but the ultra-revealing bikini that often reveals quite a bit of skin isn’t. Solution? A nude-colored two-piece with a bikini printed on it, of course.

Muslim women who feel more comfortable in clothing that shows less skin typically wear burkinis; however, those same burkinis have been the target of unfair laws and public ridicule. So one person decided to create a burkini that gives the illusion that the wearer is actually sporting a bikini on the beach when in reality, she’s not showing any extra skin at all. Check it out for yourself, below:

Funny, right? You know those long T-shirts that have a woman’s body wearing a bikini printed on the front? It’s like that except it’s not a long T-shirt, it’s a full, head-to-toe outfit.

Unsurprisingly, even this outfit started a controversy, with people seemingly feeling pretty polarized about the new fashion statement:

Now, at what point do we draw the line? Plenty of women dress in a way that can be considered inappropriate by others on the beach, but rarely is it because those people are overdressed. While this new burkini bikini is pretty hilarious, the deeper issue remains, and the former London mayor candidate Zac Goldsmith actually put it perfectly: “When a Western secular democracy chooses to use armed police to force women to change their clothes on a beach, surely they have lost.”
