The Trendiest Coat of the Season Is Really Surprising

Despite a record breaking blizzard hitting the East Coast, the winter has been unseasonably warm and entirely tolerable. On Thursday, February 4, many women could even be seen walking the streets of New York City in dresses with bare legs, boots, and just a leather jacket for warmth, perfectly comfortable in the mild weather wearing little clothing. Sure, outerwear sales in the United States are way down this season, but according to Polyvore, that hasn’t stopped shoppers from searching for the trendiest items and aesthetics for the cold season.

In data pulled from December 21, 2015 to January 21, 2016, the community site found that the most popular style of coat to sport this winter is a camel cape coat with a faux fur trim. Very specific, yes, but the style’s out there and available to shop in various price ranges. Shockingly, while one would expect black to be the most sought after shade, camel reigned supreme in the search world, being 153.78 percent more popular.

For the few days when bundling up’s actually necessary, individuals favored scarves to gloves (the neck piece being 69.4 percent more popular) and gloves 183.22 percent more. For headgear, faux fur earmuffs are must-haves and beanies with pom poms (again, with faux fur).

So even though Punxsutawney Phil said Spring will come early, there are still a few cold days left — and you’ll definitely want to look cool (and be warm).
