Ruth Bader Ginsberg Owns Notorious R.B.G. T-Shirts

Ruth Bader Ginsburg is proving that age is just a number. The 81-year-old US Supreme Court Justice is well aware of Tumblr and the blog dedicated to her called “Notorious R.B.G.” (a shout out to the rapper Biggie Smalls). Last night in an NPR interview at the 92nd Street Y in New York with reporter Nina Totenberg and former President of the Supreme Court of Israel Dorit Beinisch, Ginsburg said she has “quite a large supply” of the “Notorious R.B.G.” t-shirts created by her loyal fans.

Her Voting Rights Act decision, in which she wrote a 6-page fiery dissent that led to her being an internet sensation, spurred the creation of the nickname (as she so humbly pointed out to Katie Couric in an interview). It has since been printed on the shirts along with other slogans like “You Can’t Spell the Truth Without Ruth” and “What Would Ruth Bader Ginsburg Do?” While we haven’t spotted Ginsburg modeling one of her tees, she did admit last night that she gives them out as gifts.
