The Most Inspiring Body Positivity Hashtags on the Internet

The Internet is a wonderful place to create community and spread ideas, but for many, it has become much more than that. While social media has frequently come under fire for being an easy space for online bullying, people have begun to turn the tables in recent years, giving others more confidence through the Internet than ever before.
Considering how widespread the body-positive movement has become, it should come as no surprise that its main place of promotion is the Internet, with hundreds of body-positive hashtags taking the stage in order to give people a sense of community.
Simone Mariposa, a 23-year-old plus-size model and blogger from Los Angeles, is the latest to promote her own body-positive movement on Twitter. In an interview with BuzzFeed News, Mariposa explained that she created the hashtag #WeWearWhatWeWant two days ago to inspire women to feel comfortable in whatever they choose to wear, regardless of whether or not the clothing is “socially unacceptable” for plus-size women.
Unsurprisingly, the movement was an instant success, with plenty of women posting their own #WeWearWhatWeWant images. Check out a few of the standout posts below:

While Mariposa’s hashtag is a wonderful way for plus-size women to promote self-love and break away from the fashion limitations that society has placed on them, the Internet is filled with other inspiring hashtags for people with various insecurities.
A few other popular options have been #TallGirlTwitter, #EffYourBeautyStandards, and #HonorMyCurves, each helping women who struggle to feel beautiful finally feel accepted.
To join any of these movements, simply post an image of yourself that you feel fulfills the theme of the hashtag and label it with the appropriate tag. The responses people have been sending to each other after posting the images have been nothing short of amazing, so don’t be surprised if you become flooded with positive feedback!
