Thanks to “Suicide Squad,” Will Smith’s kids finally think he’s “cool for real”
Just to get everyone on the same page here, let’s establish some hard truths here. Will Smith is pretty darn cool.
First he amazed the world as the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
Then he transformed into a legit movie star who’s also been nominated for two Academy Awards.
But apparently, Smith’s own children only just came to this realization! What?!
At the DC Comic-Con panel for Suicide Squad, Smith talked about how his job as an actor hasn’t really been that amazing to Jaden and Willow in the past. “This is the type of thing that, no matter how cool you think you are, your kids think you suck.”
But as soon as he was cast as the skilled assassin fighting crime in Gotham City, everything changed. “This is like the first time where I’m cool for real,” he joked.
True story! Jaden and Willow didn’t know their dad Will Smith was cool until he was cast as Deadshot, an expert assassin, in Suicide Squad.
Apparently the kids’ realization that Will emits serious cool-factor has had a positive effect on the Smith household. “So my kids are doing what I say, at least for the next couple of months.”
Well hey, it seems like everybody wins!
This is pretty amusing though, considering that Smith has had leading roles in huge blockbusters like Hitch, iRobot, After Earth, I am Legend, and so many more. What about the classic Men in Black! Okay, that was before Jaden and Willow were born. But still. They should know.
Maybe now that Jaden and Willow know how cool their dad is, they might go into his back-catalogue of movies and have a Will Smith binge-fest? That seems like the most appropriate activity, and loads of fun.
Hopefully they love Suicide Squad, and continue adoring their dad for the awesome dude that he is.
