First impressions are fairly important on first dates. What better way to flaunt your features than to put on a slick new outfit? However, with men becoming increasingly conscious of their style, the anxieties that come with choosing what to wear for a date may be daunting. Fellas, who do you turn to for style advice before a date? A recent survey shows that most men ask their female counterparts for style advice in preparation for a date.

A recent survey conducted by LimeRoad, a style and commerce website, and dating app TrulyMadly asked men about their process for choosing their outfits for first dates. “From a sample size of 2,000, about 60 percent [of] men showed inclination on having a stylist of the opposite sex when getting ready for that special date, whereas, 40 percent of respondents shared that they would like their female friends to guide them through,” reports the Indian Express.

In fact, men who show a special interest in choosing what they wear for a romantic night out are open to hiring professional stylists for help instead of sticking to the basics in their closets, according to the survey.

Suchi Mukherjee, founder and CEO of LimeRoad, explains that the website is an outlet for its users to “discover their style and delightful products with the Scrapbook Looks. These looks are basically virtual stylists. One can mix and match products for different moods and creations.”

This explains why digital bulletin boards such as Pinterest have become increasingly popular — users can organize their interests in one area. Dating app TrulyMadly joined forces with LimeRoad to help gentlemen with the style discovery process. According to the Indian Express, women were asked to create date looks for men using LimeRoad’s new collection, and more than 6,000 date looks were created in two days.

“Needless to say, the TrulyMadly man loves to experiment and is open to feedback, which is why the looks were such a hit with our base,” says TrulyMadly CEO Sachin Bhatia.
