This student is dressing up for Halloween every day of October

Halloween can’t come soon enough for folks who love to dress up. Molly Foote is one of those people. So she’s not waiting around for the one day a year that turning yourself into a different character is acceptable. Foote has decided to wear a different costume every day for the entire month leading up to Halloween.

“I started the 31 Days of Halloween costume challenge because I absolutely love Halloween,” the high school senior tells Yahoo Lifestyle. “I didn’t want to only wear one costume per year and so I decided to do a costume every day. I also wanted a way to be creative in my everyday outfits, and I thought that by dressing in costume, I could show that.” Spoken like a budding fashionista.

Plus, it gives the 17-year-old something to get excited about during the daily demands of school. “It has been a way for me to have fun and have a few laughs while juggling the typical busy schedule of a high schooler,” she says.

Halfway into the month, the Olympia, Wash., resident has dressed as a “crazy cat lady” and a fuzzy pink flamingo.

She happened to sport her spaghetti and meatballs costume on National Pasta Day. But our favorite so far was the very elaborate snail.

Foote’s favorite has been her Greek goddess getup that consisted of a toga-style dress covered in lemons, a leafy crown, and gladiator sandals.

Most recently, she dressed as a piece of sushi.

She borrows some of the store-bought costumes, like the pizza one, from friends, but most are whipped up by Foote. “I take things from my closet and get supplies from Target and Joann Fabrics.”

Foote has a few costumes coming up that she’s really looking forward to, and we don’t blame her: a bowl of macaroni and cheese, and her rendition of “The Devil Wears Prada.” The latter of which, we’re proud to say, we can take a little credit in helping her create; for “The Devil Wears Prada,” she’ll wear “a fake fur coat, high heels, super extra makeup, and something labeled ‘Prada,’” in addition to devil horns and a tail. She’ll of course carry the “diva attitude.”

And unlike many schools that cite students for dress code violations — sometimes for inexplicable reasons — the Capital High School population couldn’t be more supportive. “The student body and school staff have been extremely supportive and shown great excitement toward my costumes,” Foote shares. “People are eager to help me get the supplies I need, and I get messages daily about how they look forward to my costumes. I notice that the costumes bring a lot of laughs and smiles to people in the school.”

Obviously, she takes the holiday seriously. So we can’t help but wonder how she’ll top the A+ costumes she’s worn before the holiday even hits. Leave it to Foote to figure it out. “On Halloween I am going to be a fish in a fish tank,” she says. “It’s going to be a really large bubble thing with rocks and plants, with me as a fish in the middle.”

Way to make us feel bad for planning on wearing cat ears for the fifth year in a row!
