Here are some of the social justice organizations you can support now that the election is over

Last night, the 2016 presidential election came to an end — and many of us are devastated, heartbroken, and overwhelmed. We are processing what this means for our country, our civil rights, our earth, our access to heath care… and so much more. While we process, we can act. And in the face of what this election represents, we need to protect each other more than ever. And we know you are ready to fight.

We at HelloGiggles want to help you get started, so we’ve compiled this list of organizations that need your support — either through your time or through a donation.

In hopes of making it easier for you to navigate the organizations on this list, we’ve grouped them into various categories depending on their advocacy work. Of course, many of them intersect with one another.

We are incapable of including every organization that should be on here, so please share your favorite organizations in the comments. We need to expand this list as much as possible.

Planned Parenthood is an incredible organization with which we are all familiar — and for which we are intensely grateful. It is the foremost sexual health and women’s health clinic in America, and we’ve already witnessed countless attacks on the organization this year (and always). They need our support more than ever. Center for Reproductive Rights is a law advocacy non-profit that tirelessly works to defend our rights to abortion access, birth control, and affordable reproductive healthcare. Support their efforts with a donation.

NARAL Pro-Choice America is an advocacy group that fights to protect and expand women’s access to abortion — and they’ll be fighting harder than they already do. Donate to NARAL here.

And here, Planned Parenthood tells you how to become involved as a clinic escort — letting you take immediate action to protect women exercising their bodily autonomy.

The National Immigration Law Center is one of the foremost legal advocacy organizations specifically protecting low-income immigrants. Fight for immigrant rights by donating or attending know-your-rights trainings.

Coalition for Humane Immigrants Rights of Los Angeles (CHIRLA) specifically works to aid immigrants and refugees based in Los Angeles — a city with one of the largest immigration populations in the country. Donate here.

Border Angels is based in San Diego — incredibly close to where “the wall” would be erected. The organization helps save the lives of migrants making dangerous journeys to the states, educates undocumented folks about their rights and legal options, and provides free legal services to immigrants. RAICES (Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services) is based in Texas, and helps immigrant and refugee families receive free to low-cost legal services. You can donate or sponsor a family in need.

Muslim Advocates is a legal advocacy organization working to protect the civil rights of Muslims and Muslim-Americans, and we all have to actively work to dismantle the Islamophobic culture that is being perpetuated with this presidency. Donate to Muslim Advocates here.

Council on American-Islam Relations (CAIR) is the biggest organization in the country focused on defending Muslims’ civil liberties. Volunteer and donate.

Lambda Legal is the oldest LGBT-focused law organization in the country. Through public policy and legal aid, they advocate for LGBT folks and people living with HIV/AIDS. Volunteer and donate.

The Trevor Project is a free national hotline for suicidal queer and questioning youth. Volunteer for the hotline or donate here.

Sylvia Rivera Law Project fights to protect trans and gender non-conforming folks from homelessness, discrimination, violence, sexual assault, and more. Donate here.

The Black Lives Matter movement has chapters all across the country. Find your local chapter online and support activists fighting racism and police brutality, either by donating or protesting alongside them. Find the chapter in your region on social media to stay up to date on bail funds and actions.

The NAACP Legal Defense Fund fights for racial justice through legal services and policy work. Go here to donate, volunteer, attend events, and more.

Anti-Defamation League fights back against anti-Semitism and bigotry and promotes justice through education and legal advocacy. Donate here.

RAINN is an anti-sexual assault organization that works with local rape crisis centers nationwide. They also provide a free national hotline for survivors. Go here to learn how to donate and volunteer.

Sunrise USA is an American non-profit actively aiding Syrian refugees abroad and in the states. They provide trauma counseling, deliver supplies, and promote education. Donate here.

Running Start is an organization that educates and empowers young girls to become active in politics. Donate here or learn how to volunteer.

EarthJustice is a legal organization dedicated to protecting the earth and wildlife against climate change and pollution, and fighting for clean water, clean energy, and healthy communities. They provide free legal services. Stay up to date with actions here and donate here.
