Snapchat Founder Evan Spiegel Proposed to Miranda Kerr Using a Custom Bitmoji Filter

Just a day after Snapchat incorporated Bitmoji onto its platform, Evan Spiegel, the company’s CEO, employed the custom cartoon images in his proposal to Miranda Kerr.

On Wednesday, the 33-year-old model confirmed the couple’s engagement when she shared a screenshot of her new diamond ring with the filter the 26-year-old techie made for the special occasion. The digital caricatures are actually eerily accurate: Spiegel is wearing his signature look — a plain white T-shirt with black jeans and white sneakers — and is down on one knee with one hand over his heart and the other holding a large sparkler; Kerr’s digital doppelgänger, on the other hand, is wearing athleisure (which she is rarely pictured in — does he know her style at all?), gushing and blushing. “I said yes,” the post’s caption reads.

The couple met at a work dinner for Louis Vuitton in mid-2105 when they were seated next to each other. For their first date, they went to a yoga class together in Santa Monica, Calif. Following her divorce from Orlando Bloom, with whom she was married for three years and shares 5-year-old son Flynn, the Aussie was hesitant to jump into anything too serious. “You can’t close yourself off from love,” Kerr recently told Net-a-Porter’s the Edit. “I try to keep my heart open and not feel afraid.” Their 7-year age difference wasn’t something that scared off Kerr. “He’s 25, but he acts like he’s 50,” she said. “He’s not out partying. He goes to work in Venice [Beach]; he comes home. We don’t go out. We’d rather be at home and have dinner, go to bed early.”

The pair also recently purchased a $12 million home in Los Angeles.
