Shiri Appleby's Hoping for a Female Suitor on Next Season of 'Unreal'—& Plenty of New Men

Are PR showrooms the new Soho House? A handful of celebrities made their way to the A-List's Beverly Hills showroom in Los Angeles last night to celebrate 15 years of the PR firm, which was founded by Ashlee Margolis and represents brands like Forever21, Madewell, and Dannijo. Of the honoree, James Marsden said, "She’s one of the few people in this town whose opinion I trust, because she’s no bullshit."

And he's not alone. Minnie Driver credited Margolis with introducing her to Parker, the brand she wore for the occasion. She's not, however, sharing credit for this look—or any other. "I am my stylist. I’ve been around a long time, if I don’t know what works by now, shame on me."

Busy Philips, who's prepping for her new role on HBO's Vice Principals, says she and Margolis have been friends for a decade. "It's a tricky thing bringing brands and celebrities together, right? But, she does it in a very effortless way that doesn't seem, for lack of a better word, gross," she says. "I've always just really enjoyed working with her; she's just really kind of one of the best at what she does."

Besties Minka Kelly and Mandy Moore showed up in matching outfits (by mistake), and Moore copped to envying Kelly’s confidence. “
You’re very comfortable in your skin,” she said of the Friday Night Lights star. “You’re willing to show yourself. Like I’m so not as confident as you are but you own it; you own your body.”

Also owning her body? Unreal’s Shiri Appleby. The newly pregnant actress, wearing a black and white dress by Suno, is enjoying the calm after the storm of starring in summer’s hottest TV show. Below, she tells Yahoo Style why she’ll always love reality TV—and why she’s totally fine with Team Bachelor hating Team Unreal.

Yahoo Style: We're absolutely obsessed with Unreal. How much fun is it to be on the show?

Shiri Appleby: The best! I mean we had a really fun time making it – between Constance and I and the awesome cast. We just really had a ball. And it’s beyond exciting to see the response the show has gotten.

Are you really excited the show was picked up for a second season?

Yeah! I can’t wait to make more of them and see what the writers come up with. I can’t wait. We don’t go back to work until March but we have a while.

Will you have your baby by then?

Yes.

So it won’t get worked into the plot? There is room for you guys to work a baby in given all your promiscuous behavior in this season!

No, I don’t think that show works with a baby.

Are you a big reality TV fan yourself?

Yes I am. I love Project Runway. I like the Kardashians. I don’t mind reality TV.

Is there a guilty pleasure reality show that you just have to watch?

Project Runway. Thursday nights! We’re back up right now.

Do you make your husband watch it with you?

He’ll watch Project Runway with me but at the same time, I like to save it until the next day when I’m by myself and I can really indulge. I watched Bachelor in Paradise last night for a little while and my nanny today had to explain me how it works. I was like, “What happens? Why does this woman come in and no one knew her?” I didn’t get it.

Are you sucked in now?

No. I was watching it more for research to be honest with you, for Unreal. I was like, “What’s going on?” And now I can see how it’s all being put together.

Have you ever watched The Bachelor before?

Yeah. For research and I watched it in the Andrew Firestone days.

Back when it was probably a little more…

Cool.

What do you think about people from The Bachelor being angry at Unreal?

Who cares? Great! Talk about the show all you want!

Does it ruin it for you—now that you have made a fake reality show? When you watch Project Runway, do you think, “Oh they are probably having to repeat that line and do another take?”

I mean sure, but I like the show so much I don’t even care.

Have you been having fun dressing the baby bump this time around?

No. I’ve kind of just decided that I’m just going for comfort because I do have a toddler. There really is not time for style. It’s all about practicality and being in clothes that you can sweat in and get dirty in. We were at the zoo from like 10-2 today and you are like dripping sweat by the time you leave. So you just want to be in clothes that are comfortable.

Do you buy maternity clothes or just try to make something that you have work?

No. I’m just trying to make real clothes work. I only have like a few months left so I’m trying to hold off. Maternity clothes are not my thing. I don’t want to wear anything that tight.

Do you have any that you caved in and bought during your first pregnancy that you have left over?

I have like a box of maternity clothes, but I haven’t dug into it yet.

So you have it there and it’s in the back of your mind that if gets to that point…

John said to me the other day, “Are you going to buy some maternity clothes?” I’m just not. I’m just going to wait. I’m just trying to wear big dresses and put sweaters on. I think I’m going to survive.

Will your toddler be a good sharer?

Yes. You have concerns just because it’s the unexpected so you never know what you’re family is going to turn into, but I have a lot of faith and a lot of hope that it’s going to be an easy transition.

What would you like to see happen with your character next season on Unreal?

I just hope it’s wild and crazy the way it was this year. I thought the writers did an awesome job and I think it would be fun to see a female suitor and a lot of male contestants.

Do you get to put your ideas in the mix at all?

Those people know what they are doing. I’m happy just to show up and shoot it.

What about your love triangle? Is there a guy that you’re gunning for that you’d rather see her end up with?

Oh. I don’t know how this all going to work out next year. It kind of blew up at the end of the season. So I don’t know how that love triangle is going to reconfigure itself.

There might be a whole new love triangle?

SA: I was going to say, there might be new men around!
