Serena Williams Looks Strong, Beautiful on ‘New York’ Magazine

Gracing the cover of New York Magazine’s annual ‘Fashion’ issue is a woman who’s made her career not on the catwalk, but on the tennis court: Tennis legend Serena Williams, winner of 21 grand slams.

Wearing a sleek navy body-con dress by Elizabeth and James and a two-toned pastel mani/pedi, Williams, 33, looks confident, beautiful, and above all, strong. Even out of her tiny tennis skorts, it’s impossible to miss this woman’s impeccably toned and hard earned muscles.

Inside the spread, Williams also shows off her six-pack (or is that an eight?)—and flexibility—in a midriff-baring bodysuit by Baja East. Though, admittedly, it’s a bit hard to focus on Williams when the cutest part of the photo is hiding out in the bottom right corner—her adorable teacup Yorkie, chip, who travels everywhere with her.

While scoring this cover is certainly quite a coup for Williams, who gives her and her sister Venus credit for "[bringing] fashion back to tennis,“ it’s not her first big fashion mag win. Previously, the athlete appeared on issues of Glamour, Essence, and Vogue—twice. She’s also got her own HSN-sold clothing line, though she says her first career aspiration—yep, even before tennis—was to be a wedding dress designer.

“That was my first real love,” Williams reveals. Hey, it’s never too late to start a second career!
