Barack and Michelle Obama, now officially former President and former First Lady, have just made their exit from Washington, D.C. After the inauguration, President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump escorted the Obamas to their helicopter, where they said their official goodbyes to exit the capital.

Before boarding the chopper, Barack kissed Michelle's hand on the steps. The gesture served as a sweet "we did it" moment after eight years in the White House.

One last adorable moment before heading out of Washington:

The couple is headed to Joint Base Andrews in Maryland, where former President Obama is expected to make a post-inaugural address. The Obamas are slated to spend their first few days out of the White House on vacation in Palm Springs, California. They'll reportedly continue to live in Washington, D.C. at least until Sasha Obama, who is 15, is finished with high school.

We miss them already.
