Scenes From the US Women's Soccer Team's Historic World Cup Victory Parade

All the excitement that came with the U.S. Women’s Soccer Team’s World Cup victory over Japan, Sunday, was back on Friday morning, filling the air (and streets) of New York City.
The 23-member team and its fans — thousands of them — took over Downtown Broadway for a rowdy ticker-tape parade, marking the first time a women’s team has ever gotten its own celebratory parade on the historic route, known as the “Canyon of Heroes.”
Also in attendance? New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio, who each took turns holding the team’s trophy aboard the float. Hopefully the incredible support (and creative signage!) brought on by this event will mean way more female athlete-dedicated events in the future!
