Rosamund Pike’s Outfit Is Confusing, But We Like It
At the Opening Night Gala screening of her film A United Kingdom during the 60th BFI London Film Festival on Wednesday night, Rosamund Pike dazzled in a long white one shoulder dress. Or was it a shirt? We’re confused.
When she stepped onto the carpet and faced photographers, it sure seemed like she was wearing a gown, but then she turned for a profile view and threw everyone off. When she moves, the optical illusion that is her dress turns into an extra long shirt as black pants are revealed through a slit.
The couture off-white gown in pleated crepe de chine is from Givenchy’s Fall 2016 collection.
And while it looks like a simple white dress — or shirt, let’s just say piece — from far away, it has intricate details including Swarovski crystals and shiny sequins in between pleats, pearls, waxed ostrich feathers below the bust, and tassels hanging from the back. Pike wore cigarette tuxedo trousers underneath.
It wasn’t her idea, however; this is the way it was presented on model Kendall Jenner in the runway show.
Pike grounded the complicated look with simple stiletto sandals and diamond stud earrings.
