Rihanna Says Her Dior Campaign Is a "Big Deal" for Young Girls of Any Color

If you were lost in a secret garden, wouldn’t Rihanna being there just ease your fears? Well Dior seems thinks so because the fashion house just announced the singer as the star of their new campaign.

Being tapped means that Rihanna will be the first person of color to front a Dior campaign. "It feels fantastic," Rihanna told MTV. "It is such a big deal for me, for my culture, for a lot of young girls of any colour. I think, to be acknowledged by Dior is just... it means a lot as a woman to feel beautiful, and elegant, and timeless."

Secret Garden” is an ongoing series that is shot at the Château de Versailles and the “FourFiveSeconds” will be featured in the iconic brand’s fourth installment. While the previous three were directed by power couple Inez and Vinoodh, Steven Klein stepped behind the lens to capture RiRi traipsing through the elegant landscape and perfectly manicured hedges of the famous French estate. Depeche Mode supplied appropriately moody music to accompany the past short films, which followed models Daria Strokous, Fei Fei Sun, and Katlin Aas on journeys through the greenery, but let’s hope that Rihanna will lay down her own tracks for the upcoming campaign (she does have a new album coming out after all).

Rihanna’s appointment alongside other brand ambassadors Jennifer Lawrence, Marion Cotillard and Natalie Portman is just another step in the right direction for Dior under Raf Simons’s leadership.
