Sometimes, the internet makes dreams come true, rallies together for a common, wonderful cause — and that’s exactly the case with the Rihanna and Lupita Nyong’o buddy movie that’s now in the works, according to Entertainment Weekly. Needless to say, we are SO. FREAKING. EXCITED.

That’s right, the flick that once only seemed to be a fanfic dream is about to be a reality!

The dynamic duo are set to costar in a project — hold your horses, this gets even better — that’s directed by Ava DuVernay (Selma, A Wrinkle in Time), with Issa Rae (Insecure) in negotiations to write. Netflix picked up the project at the Cannes Film Festival, surely much to the dismay of multiple other interested parties. *Please excuse us while we hyperventilate into a bag to cope with all our feels*

A bit of background on the best thing to ever happen to a Monday…

You have Twitter to thank for the forthcoming masterpiece (yes, we’re that confident). It all started with a user calling attention to a photo of the Grammy winner and Oscar winner sitting side by side at the Miu Miu Fall/Winter runway show at the 2014 Paris Fashion Week, catalyzing a phenomenon.

That prompted a response from another user, who we should all be bowing down to right about now for the brilliance that is this observation.

Then, another amazing mind chimed in, in one of the best collaborations we’ve ever seen, suggesting a film be made.

Twitter soon rallied in support, and the subjects at hand heard those cries…

BLESS YOU LUPITA FOR BEING ACTIVE ON SOCIAL MEDIA, AND RESPONDING TO THIS GEM.

AND BLESS YOU RIHANNA FOR YOUR INTEREST.

THANK YOU, AVA.

AND YOU TOO, ISSA. ALSO, SHOUTOUT TO YOUR STRONG GIF GAME.

The verdict is still out on how true the project will be to the original idea, Entertainment Weekly reports, but we’re sure it will be absolute F-I-R-E whatever direction it goes. The outlet adds that Rae is reportedly already writing the screenplay and the studio is aiming to kick off production in 2018, when DuVernay frees up.

You know what that means? Official countdown begins now, because this cannot come soon enough!
