Proenza Schouler Wants to Pin You

Proenza Schouler perforated bag, $1,525, with “N” and “Y” pins, $75 each, available at proenzaschouler.com

In an era of individualized fashion, adding personal flourishes to one’s look has become de rigueur — especially in terms of bags. (Look no further than the Fendi buggie or Prada charms for further proof of this.) The always astute designers of Proenza Schouler, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, took this idea of customization to heart and have just reimagined their famed PS1s (as well as clutches and a bucket bag) in perforated versions, in part, so they could feature their the latest covetable trinket.

“We like seeing different ways of wearing our bags, and we’ve seen so many people recently customizing them with charms and patches,” the boys told Yahoo Style. “We wanted something that you could change up, so the pins are removable. We were looking at some art by John Chamberlain, so we wanted to work with metal and enamel.”

The new bags come in shades of white, black, and neon yellow, but whereas the original PS1 was made of soft leather, these pieces are more structured and angular. The hole-y accessories serve as a pincushion of sorts for the designers’ graphic new pins. While the bags will cost you a pretty penny (think $1,525 and upwards), the pins are being sold for a cool $75.

Just think, that means it will only cost you $225 to surprise your BFF!
