The royal family is celebrating Princess Charlotte's impending second birthday with a gift to us all: a newly released melt-your-heart photo of the toddler, which was taken by her mother, Kate Middleton.

The photo was shared on the Kensington Palace Instagram account early Monday morning, the day before Princess Charlotte is due to turn two (May 2). Taken in April at the royal family's home in Norfolk, Amner Hall, the photograph features the princess wearing a knit yellow sweater with pale blue lambs embroidered along the neckline and a floral Peter Pan–collar blouse (both of which will most likely sell out in seconds once discovered online). Her chestnut brown hair—just like her mother's—is held back in a navy blue bow from the children's store Amaia, according to People{: rel=nofollow}. And while the royal family plans to celebrate Princess Charlotte's birthday "privately," according to People, they took the opportunity to thank the public for the well wishes in the photograph's caption. "Their Royal Highnesses would like to thank everyone for all of the lovely messages they have received, and hope that everyone enjoys this photograph of Princess Charlotte as much as they do," the caption reads.

The new photograph of Princess Charlotte is the first picture of her shared by the royal family since September 2016, when she—along with her older brother, Prince George, and her parents—embarked on a royal visit to Canada. This is not the first time, however, that the Duchess of Cambridge has taken her turn behind the camera to capture cute candids of her children. Last year, just before Charlotte's first birthday, the palace shared four images of Charlotte, all taken by her mother. Middleton was also the woman responsible for Princess Charlotte's precious photographs taken at six months old.

In other words, Kate's impressive photography skills are on point, but having cute children certainly helps.
