Pregnant Lara Trump Steps Into the Spotlight
If you don’t know much about Lara Trump, that’s about to change. President Trump’s daughter-in-law is assuming a more public role in the administration, and the style blogosphere is taking note.
Although she’s not a government employee, the 34-year-old, who is married to Eric Trump and due in September with a baby boy, has been rallying support for her family, starting with a video blog on the president’s Facebook page.
The July 31 video was shot like a news segment with the caption, “Want to know what President Trump did this week? Watch here for REAL news!” Lara, a former producer for Inside Edition, began the two-and-a-half-minute video by saying, “I bet you haven’t heard about all the accomplishments the president had this week because there’s so much fake news out there.”
Her bullet points included President Trump donating his salary to the Department of Education, the Dow and NASDAQ hitting all-time highs, the low unemployment rate, and more.
The video was widely criticized — Refinery29 fact-checked the “misleading” segment; and on Thursday, rapper Ice Cube performed a hilarious response for Jimmy Fallon. However, Lara’s segment still racked up 2 million Facebook views. And style blogs that have traditionally focused exclusively on Melania and Ivanka Trump have started tracking Lara’s outfits, while mainstream news sites report on her maternity style.

Lara was also the first member of the Trump family to pose for a fashion magazine, wearing a yellow belted dress from Cuban designer Oscar Garcia-Lopez in an exclusive photo shoot with Hello! magazine, earlier in 2017.

“I certainly try to look my best,” Lara told Hello! “I think our First Lady, Melania, and my sister-in-law Ivanka have impeccable style. I look to many different women for inspiration but try to make things my own. Each woman is unique, and we look our best when we feel confident and comfortable in our own skin.”
The mom-to-be is a long-time fan of Garcia-Lopez, wearing his bold-colored creations during the presidential campaign and his gold gown for the inaugural ball in January.

No doubt we’ll be hearing more of Lara in her new role as a senior consultant with the digital vendor for the president’s 2020 reelection campaign. And of course, we expect to see lots of baby photos.
