We’re used to oohing and ahhing over Kate Middleton in beautiful outfits, her long hair curled loosely and hanging down her back, a style inspiration to women everywhere. But we’re seeing her in a whole new light today! Wax figures of the royal family at Madame Tussauds in London have been dressed in ugly Christmas sweaters — with Kate and her hubby, Prince William, wearing a particularly ~interesting~ garment.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, whose wax figures are normally seen dressed up with Kate in a navy blue knee-length dress and William in a smart suit, were unveiled today in a slightly unnerving, but somehow still very sweet, Christmas sweater built for two.

But hold the phone! Our favorite royals are outfitted in these tacky getups for a good cause. Phew! In fact, the whole royal family gave permission to have their wax figures decked out in festive holiday sweaters as a part of Save The Children U.K.’s Christmas Jumper Day fundraiser on December 16th (the royals will be dressed up through the month of December, though).

Even the royal corgis are getting in on the action!

Did you catch the queen’s epic corgi sweater? We’ll take five, please!

“We are delighted to support Save The Children by having our royal wax figures join in with the Christmas Jumper Day campaign in a seriously stylish way,” said Edward Fuller, general manager of Madame Tussauds London, in an interview with People.

Added Helena Wiltshire, head of PR at Save the Children, “Who knows, maybe the queen will feel inspired to do her annual speech in a more laid-back get-up this year?”

We can only hope!
