Take a Peek Inside the Surprise Anniversary Party Chip Threw for Joanna Gaines
Chip and Joanna Gaines first caught our attention for their ability to take an old, abandoned home and transform it into a charming country space we'd want to live in. But it was their good ol' family values that really made us fall in love with the stars of HGTV's Fixer Upper. Whether the couple is demolishing walls or spending time on the farm, it's always evident how much they care for each other and their children.
If you're as big of a Fixer Upper fan as we are, you probably saw Chip surprise Joanna for their 12th anniversary when season three premiered. Well thanks to photographer Rachel Whyte, we're now getting an intimate glimpse into the couple's special day.
After 12 years of unsuccessful attempts at surprising Joanna, Chip pulled off a special gathering of family and friends to celebrate our favorite couple. "When asked if I was 'actually surprised,' I simply point out my outfit (a T-shirt and jeans) to prove that I was most definitely surprised," Joanna told Style Me Pretty.
The brunch event took place at a barn that Chip and Joanna were in the middle of transforming into a storage space on their farm. "It was special because, though the space was unfinished, it was a perfect representation of the two of us and the work we love doing together: construction and renovating homes," Joanna told Style Me Pretty.
Take a peek at the simple but beautiful tablescape and get ready to be impressed-Chip has really taken his role as Joanna's design assistant to the next level. He incorporated the symbols for a 12th anniversary into the set up, including linen, silk, and pearls. In true Gaines' fashion, the couple's four kids were involved, and helped craft delicate floral arrangements.
"The party itself was so intimate with just family and close friends in attendance," said Joanna. "Chip stood up and read the sweetest speech and there was also live music played by a dear friend of ours. All the details and meaning behind this party really touched me, and when I think back to that sweet day Chip surprised me I feel so loved and honored to be his!"
