Paris Hilton—Looking Perfect— Returns to the Runway at Phillip Plein

Five minutes into the Phillip Plein show in Milan, our fashion editor Dora Fung whispered to me, “This show is so Paris Hilton.”

Five seconds later, the actual Paris Hilton walked down the runway, looking—still—like the Barbie Doll we all wanted. Gleaming blonde hair? Check. Bedazzled high heels? Check. Evening gown that’s half beauty pageant, half Playboy centerfold? Totally. And the normally jaded fashion crowd went wild.

Of course, they’d been fed a steady stream of Insta-bait all night: a runway lined with ice cream trucks, models whizzing by on a carnival swing ride, Fergie (Fergie!) opening the show, singing to the audience in a vintage convertible.

Even so, Hilton’s surprise appearance was what kept everyone talking after the show. (And because they served vodka and cotton candy directly to the audience, people were very chatty.)

Meanwhile, we found the original celebutante backstage to get a firsthand report.

You’re in Milan! Did you fly here from LA?

No, I came here from my [house in] Ibiza. So I literally just flew here.

Why?

Because he asked me! We’ve been friends forever. And he called me a few weeks ago and said, “Paris, you’ve got to come do this show. Everything about it—the clothes, the set, the makeup—it’s just you.”

So the rumor that he created the whole show with you in mind—that’s true?

He’s a designer; he’s an artist. So he’s going to be true to vision, and I’m just really honored that he included me in the final product. I love Phillip Plein—not just as a designer but as a human being. I want to support him because he’s talented and he’s a great person. That’s a rare combination.

We haven’t seen you on a runway in a while. How’d it feel?

I feel gorgeous. The dress, the jewelry, the heels—I feel amazing.

Those heels are six inches. The runway was so long, it took almost ten minutes for models to walk. Were you worried?

I was when I saw them. But I am so into these shoes. They are so sexy. I wasn’t going to miss an opportunity to model them. And when I put them on, I was relieved, because they’re actually pretty easy. Not only were they fine on the runway, but they stayed on when I around on the swing ride. And that thing was fast.

It looked fun.

Fun, but fast. Like the fashion world, right?
