The One Thing Idris Elba Isn't Good at Doing Will Make You Accept He's Human

The star divulged his weakness in his latest interview for Esquire.

When it comes to near-perfect human specimens, Idris Elba ranks high atop the list.

He's an actor, DJ, rapper, and style star, as well as an Officer of the Order of the British Empire. And though we assumed he could do everything well, he revealed one weakness in his latest interview for Esquire that we can totally relate to—difficulty with building furniture.

"I'm not good at building furniture ... I've tried it," the August cover star stated. Same, Idris. Same.

In the cover story, Elba also opened up about how his father's passing in 2013 and sent him into a midlife crisis.

"He was 72. Too young," he affirmed. "He had so much life in him. My old man wanted to do so much more. He just didn't get a chance." And that loss led Elba to an emotional stagnation of sorts. Of that time, he recounted: "I got to a place where I wasn't even living anymore. I was becoming a robot with my work. I have no fear of jumping out of burning cars or out of buildings on set, but in reality, I couldn't run one hundred meters. I just felt out of touch with reality."

But he lives on with some unforgettable advice from his dad. "[To] fear nothing," is one of the poignant things the multi-hyphenate entertainer's father instilled. "Do what you want to do, but be educated and intelligent and confident about it."
